Solo-made games

For developers: how we review

How we pick

We pick games made by one person, or as close to one person as it gets. We confirm that with a news story or the developer's own words, and we cite it in the review. Then we ask two things: would someone who grew up on arcade cabinets enjoy it today, and can you actually buy it right now?

How we write

We never take money for a review. If we got a review copy, the first line of the piece says so. We do not hand out scores; we give a one-line verdict instead. Every fact in a review is checked against a source, and every review links to the game's store page.

What we do not run

Not every pitch becomes a review. If we ever publish something written by a developer, it will be clearly marked as separate from our reviews. Ads are labeled as ads and never placed inside a review.

How to reach us

Send your pitch to [email protected]. Tell us the name of the game, the store page, whether you made it on your own, and where to find your press kit. We take review copies through Steam Curator Connect.
